The BDA National Championship

On the day there will be two competitions running in conjunction together, we have the BDA National Cup and the BDA National Championships.

The BDA National Championships: this is the competition that all scratch teams (not affiliated with the BDA) will be competing in, this is a 200 meter course the same one the BDA teams are racing. Although it is the same course you will not race head to head with the other competition, the races will run alternately between the two competitions.

The BDA National Cup: The BDA registered teams will be battling it out in this cup over two days with 200 meter, 500 meter and 1000 meter courses, all with an aim to be crowned champions of each course. The Saturday will be when they are racing the 200 meter course.

Once you have arrived and registered your team on the day you will then be called for your team briefing before your first race, this is a safety and technical briefing that will take between five and ten minutes, it will cover all basic techniques from how to hold your paddle to how to brace the boat, plus all relevant safety procedures.

From here you will load your boats ready for your first race, where the Helm who will be supplied by Race the Dragon Ltd. will give you further coaching, hints and tips, the Helms will be just as competitive as yourselves so rest assured the best advice will be given.

Once your first race is over you will have a chance to rest and watch the other teams racing before your second and third races all spaced out evenly throughout the day.
